Dear Scouters,
Finding the right words to inspire you is always a delightful challenge—but after attending the 2025 Council Recognition Dinner, inspiration practically wrote itself.
At the dinner, I had the pleasure of meeting our new Assistant Scout Executive, Wyndell Waldon. As we got acquainted, I discovered a wealth of experience and passion in his impressive Scouting career. I’m thrilled to welcome him to our council. His proactive outreach to public schools—engaging teachers, principals, and superintendents—ensures that they are informed about the incredible opportunities Scouting offers. His efforts underscore the vital role our programs play in shaping the moral character and future of our youth.
A sincere thank you to Wyndell for his dedication; thanks to his hard work, our numbers have steadily grown over the past three years, and I am confident that his initiatives will further expand our youth membership.
I must also recognize the outstanding Reverend Robert Sturdy from the Citadel, our featured speaker for the evening. His memorable message, which he termed “reversing the question,” struck a powerful chord with me. Instead of asking, “What will happen to me if I help someone?” he challenged us to ask, “What will happen to that person if I don’t help them?” His words remind us of the importance of lending a hand, especially when someone is in distress or facing danger.
So, the next time you face a challenge in your communication or decision-making, take a moment to seek inspiration in the world around you. Scouting offers both youth and adults the opportunity to live by the Scout Law, especially the principle “To Help Other People At All Times.”
Yours in Scouting,
