Explorer Post 700

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, along with the BCSO Law Enforcement Explorer Post 700 personnel, recently participated and competed in the 2025 Winter SCALE (South Carolina Association of Law Enforcement Explorers) Conference. The conference was hosted by the City of Charleston Police Department.

“The explorer program is really an excellent way for youth to learn about law enforcement. This program lets us cultivate and develop future law enforcement professionals as well as it enables our deputies to interact and build bonds with the youth in our community. Several of our deputies were explorers in their youth – it really is a great program that we are proud of.” Sheriff Duane Lewis stated.

A total of (10) Explorer Posts from various In state and Out of state agencies attended the conference, where Explorers had the opportunity to participate in real-world law enforcement scenarios in The City of Charleston. The Explorers were evaluated on their Law Enforcement knowledge and skillsets while performing and participating in the scenarios. On the last day of the conference, the Explorers attended an awards banquet where they were recognized and awarded for their performance and participation during the scenarios at the conference.
