Congratulations to the 46 new National Youth Leadership Training graduates who participated in the two weekend sessions in March of 2025. The amazing class worked diligently with 15 youth and 12 adult staff over the six-day class. Each member had the opportunity to participate in leadership development, Scout skill challenges, team events and an Outpost experience.
After arriving on the first Friday evening, the participants were placed into new patrols with members from around the council. Each group elected their leader for the day and began learning the basics of team development. Led by the youth Guides, each patrol began forming relationships and participating as a team.
As the days continued, the Guides stepped back, leaving the participants to work as a patrol. From team competitions to independent challenges, each Scout was pushed to new levels. By the end of day 6, the patrols were performing at a higher level, working together, and ready to bring back the “ideal Scout patrol” to their units.
Some will go on to National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE), others may return as Guides or the QM’s, and still others will return to their units, ready to provide a “Scout led troop”. But no matter where these amazing scouts go next, they will bring with them the NYLT experience.
