Conservation Weekend

2024 conservation patch

Conservation is an important part of the Scouting program. From learning the Outdoor Code to Leave No Trace principles. This past March in cooperation with DNR and the Tom Yawkey Wildlife Center in Georgetown, Scouts and Scouters crossed the intercoastal water way over to South Island for a weekend filled  with conservation minded merit badges, long walks and  birding through the pristine landscape. A LNT course was taught to the adults, and everyone enjoyed the massive camp fire! After Chapel Sunday Moring we all worked together on a 3 hour conservation project to clean brush so the Black Rail Bird could have additional habitat to raise their young.

Thank you to the DNR Staff, Tom Yawkey Wildlife Center, and the Yawkey Foundation for their support. Join us next year for our 4th annual Bob Joyner BSA Conservation Weekend January 31st through February 2nd .
