Commissioners, Commissioner Collage, Tools, and Assest

What is a Commissioner?

Commissioners’ are experienced scout leaders who have been recruited to support scout leaders running scout units. Commissioners are advisors and mentors. Commissioners can help resolve conflicts among leaders within a unit. They serve on staff at district scouting events, and they serve as a front door to the District Committee helping to connect scout leaders to the right people who can help them.

Coastal Carolina Council College of Commissioner Science

Bachelor Course

The College of Commissioner Science is an annual supplemental training event for all BSA Commissioners. It’s an excellent opportunity for both new and experienced commissioners to expand their Commissioning skills, build their Scouting network, and share their experiences in Unit Service.

To encourage participants to build on previous learnings, the college is structured in an academic format beginning with Bachelor Courses, followed by Master Courses and then rounding out training with the Doctor of Commissioner Science Degree. Different “Continuing Education” courses are offered each year for commissioners to continue their training beyond these degrees.
